I have severe carpal tunnel and tuning up can be the most painful thing. I have had therapy and looked in to surgery and chose not because it only has a 50 percent chance of being succesful. I talked to people who had the surgery and they told me in the long run it made it worse. I rarly play anymore because of it. It effects everything I do. Even my wood working. If you don't suffer from it you should thank God. |

Carpal Tunnel? Yep, suffered from it for about ten years. Then I had one wrist done (surgery) and a few years later, the other. Both surgeries went great!! No more trouble and I've never regreted it, and that was about 25 years ago. (Yes, I am old) ![]() |

I can't imagine that it would be super precise but looks like it would get in the ballpark. I see it as much as a powered string winder as a tuning device. Might be more trouble than it's worth for fine tuning? It interests me more from a gearhead point of view---taking a tone input and converting to rotary motion with feedback..... John--I'm thinking that you could mount this as an auxiliary axis drive on your CNC and produce guitars while you're playing heavy metal. ![]() On a serious note, I know that Carpal Tunnel is not funny for those that suffer with it. [/QUOTE] Things are better now days more like 80% effective in relieving the nerve iritation, but the problem is reacurance over a 5-10 year period is high. I had surgery in 1995 and had to repeat in 2000. About 30% of those that have the surgery pre 2000 had a reacurance in about 5 years. My Orthopedist tells me that it is now more like 10% |

This little device can provide some relief: CatsPaw I use it daily, and it seems to work pretty well. -Mark |

I think that not everyone who buys that will buy one because of a medical malady like carpal tunnel! and thats just lazy - how is anyone going to im[prove thier pitch recognition that way??? when I think of the conditions most of my heroes had to play and make albums under, and how easy it is today, then I think about the calibre of music back then and the calibre of players and music today. Then I decide I will take the long route. Cheers Charlie |
